One of the stated missions of the CWHA is "to promote and to facilitate the study of World History in schools, colleges, and universities within California." As a new affiliate of the World History Association, we share its mission of approaching world history scholarship from a global perspective with a diversified membership of teachers and scholars. To this end, we encourage all those invested in a greater understanding of World History to consider membership and participation within our organization. All are welcome: professionals from public & private universities and colleges, primary and secondary school teachers, and students of all levels. The continued success of the study of World History in California depends upon an active, ongoing discussion among us all. At our third conference at the Mission Inn in Riverside, we took on the challenge of “Teaching and Researching Across Boundaries” in roundtable session with Monty Armstrong, Laura Mitchell, and Alex Zukas in a session that explored the issue of communication across the various levels of education. Our keynote was delivered by Dennis O. Flynn of the University of the Pacific, one of the “Silver Guys,” on looking at interdisciplinarity and spheroidal connections in world history versus global history. Our fourth conference will be hosted by Sacramento State University on October22-23, 2010, under the theme “California and the World.” We are very interested in your participation whether you choose to present a paper (please click on the conference link for information) or just join in the conversation. We look forward to seeing you in Sacramento!
